She Sits!
Reagan likes life upright. She can't do it for long, and I wouldn't leave her unsupervised just yet, but... she sits!! Yet another developmental milestone achieved. Good girl!

The Gnawing Truth
I saw it.... the CULPRIT. The cause of fussiness, waterfall-drooling, constant-hand-in-mouth, quiet only when gums massaged CULPRIT. A left lower eye tooth. It's poking through, it is! Almost ready to become the official first tooth. Reagan's cutting teeth a whole lot sooner than the boys did. And THEY cut their front four teeth first. She's going right for the canines, so she can enjoy a nice steak right off the bat.

Well-Baby Visit at 5 1/2 months
Here's Reagan's stats, for all posterity:
Height: 25 inches (30th percentile)
Head: 42 cm (50th percentile)
Weight: 12.4 pounds (below the 5th percentile)
Weight for Length: less than the 3rd percentile (not on the chart)
SO long and skinny, with the majority of her weight being the giant pumpkin on top. Still awfully darn cute though!

Little Girl
I love this age in Reagan's life. 5 months appears to be the perfect baby age. She's so cuddly, and she smiles and laughs and interacts with us. She's sleeping through the night consistently, and plays contentedly on her own. She finds joy in the littlest things, like a belly rub or a tickle under her chin. She's just so SWEET. What a good baby she is. We are so blessed to have her in our lives. I'm trying to soak up every little bit of her, because I know how fleeting this stage is!!!

Baby Nightmares?
Reagan has been sleeping for 10.5 hours now, so I went to go check on her. Her eyes were half open and she was smiling, so I assumed she was awake, and started talking to her. NOPE. She has this eerie habit of sleeping with her eyes open. It took me probably a full minute to figure out that she wasn't looking at me. Then her eyes started twitching all over, her little mouth turned into a frown and she started wimpering. Poor thing! She was having a baby nightmare. It was probably all about her frazzled mother not getting a bottle to her quick enough. That's about the most tragic thing that's happened in her little life so far... well, besides the incident where Quinn accidentally stepped on her head when she was lying on the floor. Both are nightmare worthy, I suspect. So then the quandry presented itself... wake a sleeping baby to stop the nightmare? Or let her sleep? I tried to comfort her (very gently) while she was still asleep, but it didn't seem to make much difference, so I'm just leaving her alone. I have a feeling she'll be waking up by herself shortly anyway.....

Another Milestone
It's the day before Reagan turns 5 months old, and she discovered her feet for the first time!!! She pulled off her own socks, and reached for the hanging toys. Great - now I have THREE kids who won't keep themselves dressed. Her rolling is coming along, too.... she's the master of escaping Tummy Time.
