Step-mother

Reagan:  "Mom, who's my step mother?"
Mom: "UHHHHHH.... you don't have a step mother.  You have me."
Reagan:  "Well then, who's my fairy godmother?"
Mom: "You know those aren't real, right?"
Reagan covers her mouth with her hand and giggles.
Reagan: "I mean, you know,  MY fairy godmother.  Who is she?"
Colby: "Do you mean your godmother?"
Reagan: "Yes, that.  Who is mine?"
Mom: "Aunt Kathy."
Reagan: "Oh.  Good."

Conjugating Verbs

Reagan was protecting my leg from wasps and honeybees by kicking me. This successfully rid my leg of insects. "Look at that bug! It flewed!" she cried. "Flewed??" I asked. "YES! Bugs flews! You know. Because they're flying!" Then she flapped her hands like wings, just in case I still didn't get it. DUH, mom.

Pinkalicious

Reagan went plane camping last night with her father, and on the flight home, she barfed. All over Rob's plane. I'm surprised this event didn't cause a crash, as I can imagine the pilot was more than a little concerned about what stains were being created in the back seat. Anyways, said vomit was apparently pink in color, despite the fact that Reagan had not eaten anything of that color. This confirms what we already suspected:  the girl is pink through and through, from the inside out.

Persistence pays off.

Reagan has been bugging her father since she was able to talk to get the hot tub up and running again. Well, today, five years after shutting it down, the hot tub lives. It's not yet hot... Current temp is a balmy 75 degrees, but that didn't stop little miss from jumping right in. Entertaining the children on a daily basis just got a whole lot easier.

In the car on the way to school

Reagan:  "mom, why did God make the boys be born bad?"

Mom: "They're not bad, Reagan. "

Reagan: "Yes!!  They are!"

Mom: "No. No one is born bad. God makes us good, but sometimes we make bad choices   "

Reagan: "The boys make a lot of bad choices. "

Mom: "Unfortunately, we all do."

((Silence))

Reagan: "Mom, once I brought my lunch to school but they were having pizza so I took hot lunch instead."

Hmmmmm. I had actually emailed the school and made them give me a refund for their error in Reagan's lunch balance. Great.   I'm glad her conscience actually got the better of her. NINE months later.

Yup. Bad choices.

Choices

Reagan has her own means of choosing between things. The age old "eeny meeny miney mo".  She's got that first line down, but then things go "Reagan" really quick after that.

"Eeny meeny miney mo. Pumpkin by the stream. Mommy picks you!!"

I don't seem to remember a pumpkin or a stream un the version i learned as a kid,
and there seems a definitive lack of tiger toes in her version, but I guess it works.

Project of the day.

Reagan found my bead box today and let her creativity flow. These are two of her original works of art, draped so effortlessly around her neck. Bling is her thing.

An observation

Reagan: (pushing a stool across the floor and noticing that it didn't push straight)

. "Uhhhhhhh, mom?  Why does our house lean?"
Mom: "lean?  What are you talking about?"
Reagan: "the house leans this way !"

She's right. It does.

Mom: "Well , it's an old house. "

Reagan:   "I think it leans because we have too much stuff. We need to lift the piano up."

This makes me smile. She's very astute for a little person. Yes, the house leans. And holy cow do we have too much stuff!!!
