Reagan is THOROUGHLY attached to her "nite nite". Which makes me feel good as a Mom, since I made the thing for her. Every so often, though, we've really got to UNATTACH the little girl long enough to wash the thing. Because, quite frankly, it reeks.
Yesterday, I grabbed her blanket as soon as she woke up, and tossed it in the laundry. I put it in the dryer right before we left for piano lessons, so it would be all clean and ready to go by the time it was needed again for her nap. It was especially smelly this time around, so I used a little vinegar in the wash, as well as fabric softener, and then put a few bounce sheets in the dryer as well. It came out of that dryer smelling fresh and snuggly. Heck - I wanted to nap with it, it smelled so good.
When Reagan woke up from her nap, she immediately handed me her blanket, and said
"Mom, nite nite. Wash. Ick."
Me: "Reagan, I just washed it! It smells good!"
Reagan: "No. Wash. Yucky."
I smelled it again, to see if there was actually a foul odor. Nope. Fresh as a daisy. CLEAN.
Reagan: "WAAAAASHHHHH. YUCK!!!!!!"
Poor girl. She doesn't even know what CLEAN smells like anymore. How dare I mess with the stale-urine smell of her nite nite!

Potty Training
I wanted to capitilize on the recent "potty experience" that Reagan had this week at church, so I left her diaperless for most of the day. Except, because I'm a scatter-brain, I FORGOT that I left her diaperless, and when she began yelling "OH NO! PEE!" in the kitchen in front of the refrigerator, I thought she had spilled some lemonade.
"That's not pee, honey. That's JUICE." She agreed with me. "Oh. Juice." And then I noticed her sopping wet pants. OH YEAH. No diaper. So we rushed to the potty, to see if there were any trickles left. There was. Kind of. Maybe a molecule or so, but I thought I should reward it, to establish a precedent. So I took her back to the kitchen, and gave her two M&M's, and said "Reagan, you got candy, because you put pee in the potty!!!"
Reagan was estatic, and I distinctly thought to myself that potty training her was going to be EASY compared to the nightmare that was potty training her brothers. She rushed back to the bathroom -- I assumed to go pee some more so she could get more candy. I followed - just in time to see her plunk her two M&M's into the toilet. Uh Oh. Language barrier.
There were tantrums throughout the day afterwards, because Reagan didn't understand why I would randomly give her candy ONCE and not REPEATEDLY. And one more "accident", but only on the kitchen floor, where it was easy to clean up. Good girl. I have hope that this will happen in a not-so-painful way. She's a smart girl. I just need to be really clear with my English!

NO WAY!
So, Reagan was hanging out in the nursery at vacation bible school tonight. Afterwards, I picked her up, and the lady in the nursery said "Well, she just went to the bathroom, so she should be fine for the night."
WHAT?!?!?! DID?!??!?! YOU?!?!?!?! SAY?!?!?!
"She just went to the bathroom. You know... on the toilet? She peed, so she should be okay for awhile."
In response to the obvious disbelief plastered all over my slack-jawed, blank face, all THREE of the nursery workers confirmed this. "Yeah, she just did." "Peed on the toilet" "She just went in there, sat on the toilet, and went." "She flushed, and then washed her hands and everything."
HUH. We've been sitting on the toilet at home for MONTHS now, with nothin'. She's a pro-sitter, but nada in the pot.
If they're gonna be potty training in the nursery, I'm going to be leaving her in there a WHOLE LOT MORE now.

Helpful Shopper
Rob, I and the kids were grocery shopping at Walmart today. We were almost done, when we happened to look DOWN. Apparently, Reagan was shopping right along with us, putting toys on the bottom shelf of the cart. Make that cartS. We had two between Rob and I. And both bottom shelves were full. Three Toy Story books, two floor puzzles, and a few miscellaneous others. Luckily we caught it before going through the check out!! Sneaky little thing.

And English Gushes Forth.....
Reagan's speech is just exploding by leaps and bounds. She's saying several new words every day. Yeah. The second we stop speech therapy. THEN she talks. HUMPH.
Little Miss Independent's favorite phrases these days are "I try" and "me, too!" She can say "I love you", but it mostly comes out "I wuh YOU!" She can make the sign of the cross, which I've GOT to get on video, because it's adorable, even though saying "father" is a bit tough. And she loves to read read read, and be read too. On her theoretical nightstand of late are "Mr. Brown can Moo, can you?" "There's a Wocket in my Pocket", "Animal friends on the farm", "I saw it all on Mulberry street", and "My first Dinosaur Board Book." She's a Dr. Suess and animal fan. I've read these five books ZILLIONS of times. Luckily, she doesn't seem to notice when I give her the condensed version. She sleeps with these books nightly, instead of dolls or stuffed animals.
She begs her brothers and dad for horsey rides, and it comes out "hussy", which makes me laugh. "Daddy! Hussy!" And she continues to use herself as a canvas, anytime a pen is in her hand. MAN, I hope tatoo artistry is not in her future!

Sunday Cuteness
It's been awhile since I did an edition of "Sunday Cuteness". Reagan, all dressed up for church, is darn adorable, and I can't help but take a few pictures!

Current Stats
For the Record Books:
Little Miss continues to weigh just BARELY 24 pounds (I have a feeling if I had a digital scale, it would read 23.75 or something, but since mine is analog, I'm calling it 24). She's 35" tall. By the growth calculator, that puts her in the 10th to 25th percentile for length, and 3rd to 5th for weight. Weight for length is below the 3rd percentile, not even on the chart. That's why I checked ... she's just looking so LONG AND SKINNY lately. Like she has the proportions of a 7 year old instead of a toddler. Pants are a nightmare - 12 month waist with a 2T length. We're used to it, though.... her brothers haven't owned a pair of pants that stay up on their waist since they were in overalls.
A good wind just might blow her over, and she seems to be not very sturdy. Haven't done a gross motor assessment on her, by my guess would be low-end of normal. Those feet are still pretty pronated due to low muscle tone, and she's not got a lot of power yet, although she is just leaving the ground when trying to jump lately. Speech wise, however, she is making great strides, and pops off with new words every day. Today she said two complete sentences in a row.... "Mom, I need help. I want that." You go, girl!!!
Cognitively.... sharp as a tack. Maybe too much so. NOTHING gets by her. NOTH----ING. I mean it. She's been a bit of a drama queen since we returned from out west, constantly saying "OW!" with even the tiniest bump, and even minor falls conjure up major tears.
She certainly knows how to twist Mommy and Daddy around her little finger, and flirts conquetishly with both of us, whenever her brothers aren't around. We fall for it. She's adorable, and our baby. We're content to be twisted ;).
