Sleep? What sleep?

I should know better than to have bragged about what a good sleeper Reagan is. With her current cold, she has been waking up every time the binky falls out of her mouth - which is several times a night. This little girl has a temper if she doesn't get what she wants! She WILL yell at her mommy if I'm not prompt enough about replacing it. I'll be happy when we're all back to full health.

Another First

Another first for the little girl.... she's rolling from her back to her side! Her first semi-mobility! Legs go up, a reach across midline with her upper extremity, and..... she topples right over! A text-book performance, right on time. Her Physical Therapist mother is so proud!!!

Ash Wednesday

Reagan attended her first-ever Ash Wednesday service today. She was wide awake the entire time, but it sure wore her out afterwards!

Binkified

Since catching her cold, Reagan has been obsessed with the pacifier. Every waking moment, either it or a bottle MUST be in her mouth. I would assume, with a stuffy nose, that she wouldn't want anything in her mouth, but... no. Unfortunately, she is a very wimpy "sucker", and the thing falls out of her mouth every 30 seconds or so, causing her to scream bloody murder. How is a mom supposed to get anything done around the house???? Solution: the Binkie Binder! Take a headband, and strap it on said child. Poor girl looks a little like she's wearing a muzzle, but it does the trick :)

An Unwelcome First

It's official... Reagan is sick with her first cold. It's 4 am, and she is feverish and coughing with a runny nose. I had hoped she could hold out against the "super-germ duo" who have been experiencing the same crud, but apparently my antibodies aren't as strong as they need to be. Poor thing.

My Good Little Girl

It is 6:30 in the morning. I am awake and ready to start my day, and my daughter is still asleep. She went to bed at 9:30. That's 9 hours and counting! I am so spoiled with this child. The boys were good sleepers, but there was always the issue of ONE of them waking up and disturbing the sleep of his brother. I remember thinking at the time how easy one baby at a time must be, and you know what? I was right. I don't know WHAT parents of singletons complain about!!! Or maybe it's just that our daughter is an exceptionally good little girl, and the best baby to ever grace the surface of the planet. Yeah, that's probably it.

ADDENDUM: 10 hours and counting... I've checked to make sure she's still breathing about a dozen times. She is. WOW.

Dreamin' Of Spring

I know it's Valentine's Day, but we are forgoing the usual red and pink today for YELLOW. This is for several reasons:
#1. Reagan looks cute in yellow
#2. Reagan got a new yellow sweater yesterday, and was anxious to try it out
#3. And lastly.... we're all in the mood for spring! Enough gray and white... bring on the daffodils and sun!!

A dream

I had a vivid dream last night that I was visiting my Aunt Gladys' house in Spokane, taking care of the kids. Whenever I would pick up a kid, they would clone into a new baby. At first I was thrilled! We had another little Colby whom I named Kai, and another little Quinn, who I contemplated naming Eric. Then I picked up Reagan, and she cloned into an Emma. There were babies everywhere! I was trying to find places for them to sleep, and came up with two bunk beds stacked 3 high each, and was telling my mom "If Aunt Gladys doesn't mind us taking over her house, there'll be plenty of room, because there's lots of empty bedrooms in the basement!" Then the "splitting" process went awry, and a little Quinn came out with a mis-shaped head and ended up shrivelling away... I was heartbroken! The dream ended with all of us in church, and me making a conscious effort NOT to pick up any more kids, as that seemed to be how they multiplied. WEIRD. I'm only writing this here in Reagan's blog because she's a baby, and that "babiness" must've triggered something in my dream-brain. Weird again.

The New Church

Our church is moving soon, and Reagan's will be the first baptism in the new building. Prior to the flooring being laid, the members of the congregation were invited to write bible verses on the concrete as a blessing. This is what we chose for under the new baptismal font....

More Sleep Bragging

I don't want to speak too loudly, and I have been knocking on every piece of wood I can find, BUT.... Reagan has slept a minimum of 8 hours for 4 of the last 5 nights!!! The anomoly was the previously-blogged-upon wet diaper episode. So THIS is what being rested feels like! WOW! What a good little girl you are, and how kind you are to your mother, Miss Reagan!!!

The Big Brother

I love that the boys are such good big brothers to Reagan. They are constantly wanting to hold her, and fight over who gets to sit next to her in the van. Quinn, while sitting on the couch with his sister, said "Reagan, you have my face!" He is right... she does look like him! And she so completes our family!!!! We're so glad you joined us, Reagan!!!

The Experiment

Reagan is doing pretty good with her sleep -- generally 5-6 hours at night, with occasional bouts of up to 8 hours. I can't complain. But now I'm getting a little more intentional about "training" her to sleep through the night. Tonight I tried a little experiment. She fell asleep at 9:30, and woke up at 2:30. Only 5 hours. So I put the pacifier in her mouth, and she went back to sleep for another hour. At 3:30 I did the same thing. It's now 4:30 am, and it's been 7 hours, so I'm feeding her. That's when I realized I had forgotten to change her diaper before bed, and she was soaked through. Poor girl! It had nothing to do with food or sleep... and everything to do with being wet! And her mom just keeps putting a plug in her mouth! Will this child survive this household????

3 Month Well-Child Visit

Happy 3 month birthday, little Miss Reagan! Where did THAT three months go? Sheesh! We celebrated by taking little girl to the doctor, where she received 3 shots in the leg. Poor thing. She was very brave, though, and took it like a WOMAN! Here's her current stats:

Head Circumference: 40 cm
Height: 21.5 inches
Weight: 10 pounds on the nose
Adorability Quotient: Through the ROOF!

This puts her in the 5th percentile for height, but up to the 10th percentile for weight! She's chunking up, our daughter! Funny thing is, her head is in the 50th percentile! It doesn't seem that disproportionately large compared to the rest of her, but apparently it is :). That was exactly how it was on her ultrasound in utero, too. She's packing around alot of brains in that cranium, she is....

Blessed Sleep

YEEAAAHHH Reagan! 9:30 pm to 5:30 am! We have hit the 8 hour mark for sleep! If only I hadn't stayed up late watching a movie, I would be incredibly well-rested right now!!!!
