Developmental Milestone

Reagan did something for the first time today, and unfortunately, I can't say that it was WALKING. But it was ADORABLE, none-the-less ;). While sitting together in her room, Reagan picked up a book, brought it over to me, waved it in my face, then crawled up into my lap and settled in. Her first deliberate asking to be read to! Yeah! Reagan is much better with books than her brothers were. She's not a "ripper" - she turns the pages politely, although she turns them faster than I can read them. Attention span's still not so huge. Just excited about this new interest in literacy, and a new way for she and I to communicate!

Progress Report

Reagan is ALMOST (finally) walking. She can stand unsupported for about 10 seconds at a time, and today took two steps all by her little lonesome. She can now walk while just barely holding my hand. This afternoon, Reagan and I met the boys at the door, hand in hand, and Quinn said the following:

Quinn: "MOM! Reagan's a real sister now!"
Mom: "She's always been your sister."
Quinn: "No. A sister is a baby who can walk."

AHHHHHH. She's a-growing up!

Communication

Reagan signed and said "all done" today after breakfast for the first time. This is a huge improvement on the previous means of communication - screaming at the top of her lungs till she gets her point across.

14 Months Old

Fourteen months, and not yet walking. Not even close. She's too quick a crawler. Why bother learning something new when you can do 0 to 60 in 2 seconds flat? I TRY to get her to walk, but she just lifts up her feet and refuses. Stubborn girl, making her physical therapist mother look bad. Watch out, little thing, or I'm going to have to PT-ize you!!!!

Personality

Reagan's personality is so STRONG, despite her young age. She wants to do, and eat, and BE whatever her brothers are. She thinks they are hilarious - they have only to look at her, and she starts laughing hysterically. She flirts with her father shamelessly, and can't take her eyes off him when he's anywhere nearby. She'll make faces and sounds and gestures until he finally looks at her, and then hides her face coyly. Tonight while we were watching a movie on the couch, she insisted on teasing her brothers by climbing over the tops of them, and then would laugh a deep, gutteral, belly laugh when they yelled at her to go away. She screams (holy cow, does that girl have lungs!) during dinner, even if she's already eaten, because she wants the same thing that everyone ELSE is having. Very indignant if given ANYTHING approaching "baby food". She's not a cuddly girl... she likes to be held, but only because it's a quicker means of getting around, and it allows her to be at eye level with everyone else, I think. She's rarely, if ever, still. Colby calls her "squirmy worm," which I find a tad ironic, coming from him, "Mr. Squirmy Worm, senior." I look at this baby, and already see the strong-willed, grown up Reagan who will be a spitfire, a charmer, and a tease. She WILL keep up with her brothers. I have not the slightest doubt about that!!
