Language

Reagan, in stark contrast to her brothers, is very concerned about whether the words she says are "bad" words or not.  It makes me smile - most of the time.

Reagan: "Mom, is SHEESH a bad word?"
Mom: "No, Reagan.  SHEESH is okay."
Reagan.  "OH, SHEESH."

Reagan: "Mom, is road a bad word?"
Mom: "As in the road we're driving on?"
Reagan: "Yeah."
Mom: "No, road is not a bad word."
Reagan: "YAY!"

Reagan: "Sex-say"
Mom: "Reagan, that's not nice to say."
Reagan: "HOT".
GRRRRR.  Brothers.  And stupid "Mr. Poppers Penguins",  the supposed "kids movie" - which is where they learned to say such things.  We've got a new rule in the house.  If a person is pretty - say she is PRETTY.  Or BEAUTIFUL.  Or something non-degrading, that doesn't reduce her to an objectification.  Because it drives me crazy to hear my small children talk like teenagers, in ways that aren't appropriate in the least.

But go ahead and say "road" all day long, if you want.

SHEESH.
